Carrying the Skirt Shirt Ensemble like a Pro!!

Lehengas are outfits worn on weddings or for very traditional ethnic gathering. Reusing the lehenga was something that we had never imagined in the past but we never thought that the choli or blouse would be easily replaced with a chic shirt which not just makes it more convenient but trendy at the same time.

Taking inspiration from the women of Haryana where women team a shirt with their ghagras, our designers – Manish Malhotra, Anita Dongre have done a fantastic job by adding a modern twist to the traditional lehengas.

The concept has been in limelight for quite some time and has so much panache associated with it.

The bohemian look is perfect for an evening party and social gatherings. Keep the style and design of the shirt minimal so as to avoid the complete ensemble looking too crowded.

Here are style cues from Bollywood Divas for the same look:

Raveena Tandon paired the Floral Embroidered Lehenga with a mauve metallic shirt. The shirt contrasts so well with the skirt. The ring and dangler earrings keep the look minimal and not too loud.

Ivory Queen

Sridevi never goes wrong with her overall look. Here also, the actress is seen wearing the Ivory Threadwork Lehenga with White Shirt. The open neck with the heavy neckpiece completes the look.

In the below looks, the actresses have paired collar silk shirt with contrasting lehengas. They have perfectly completed the look with statement neckpiece, smokey eyes and nude lips. The look is so subtle yet classy.

Here the 2 timeless beauties are seen in collared shirt and lehenga paired with floor sweeping cape. Both the looks are from Payal Khandwala collection. Instead of adding the jewellery, you can go for the cape to add a twist to the look.

You can even try wearing printed buttoned shirt or a ruffled top just the way Alia Bhatt and Chitrangda Singh are seen in.

The brides these days want to experiment with different styles. Here is a bride who is carrying the shirt and lehenga look with the bridal jewellery and makeup. Is it not beautifully traditional yet modern?

The Silk printed Lehenga can be paired with a simple shirt which is not as shiny and bold. Keep the makeup minimal and with no accessory. It will give the lehenga its due attention and also make it super modern.

Neha Dhupia seems to be in love with the look. She was spotted carrying the look twice at different sets with perfect color coordinated ensembles. These are perfect for someone who does not want to go for heavy embroideries.

The trend required courage and an eye for good fashion aesthetics to perfectly blend the Western and Eastern style. Isn’t the look great for a cocktail party or maybe a wedding reception? It so retains the Indo Western Vibe.
